Yemi Alafifuni "Found" love and says He won't monetise it
While life can be uncertain and the trend disturbing, it is comforting to know that God has a plan. What is lost can certainly be found by the grace of God’s love, and singer-songwriter Yemi Alafifuni is here to deliver this message. Grammy considered, and steadily growing within the Christian/Gospel scene, Yemi’s rich vocal tones and textures, along with his miraculous ability for writing lyrics, has released a new single, “Found” across all streaming platforms.
FOUND – THE INSPIRATION
Found was written at two different times both demanding a response to a simple question; what are you looking for that God can’t fulfil?
The chorus of this song was written a few years ago as a response to self gratification thoughts. Yemi survived extremely difficult situations growing up and have wondered in awe how God brought him through. In my mind, I believe I have lived a good life becoming a christian at a young age but it wasn’t that I could keep myself but God found me and kept me from all harm – both spiritually and physically.
What is so special about me, Yemi asked. The answers are summarised in the lyrics and the core is that God found me… Yemi explained. He came running for me, even when I didn’t deserve it.
The entire song describes different moments of Yemi’s experiences coined through the lenses of these two scriptures;
- 1 John 4:10; This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
- Jeremiah 29:13; You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
The Passion:
Yemi claims this song is at the core of his passion for God’s love and though things might appear difficult, God won’t break our hearts. “Found” is a passionate song with interesting call to worship and an unadulterated surrender to God’s love.
Yemi prays that this song helps many rekindle passion for God’s love and a sense of identity to those who may feel lost or broken.
The Message
When asked what being found as expressed in this passionate song means, Yemi responses were;
- Today, our world has been taken over by the ‘celebrity’ mentality and the need or crave for becoming ‘FAMOUS’. The need to monetize all our experiences, whether divine or mortal has become the game of thrones. We must refuse to monetize God and our worship, Yemi said.
- We need to trust God in this current economic climate and be assured that He will meet all our needs according to His riches in glory. We must tell others to do the same. We cannot sell salvation; it’s already paid for. It is therefore not that we love God but that He first loved us.
“God’s love is the answer to all what we may be looking for. The person of Jesus is enough for me,” Yemi declares. Found is a song from Yemi’s body of works and upcoming album ‘The Prodigals’.
