MUSIC: REAL MEANING

Define music?

As described by different sources:

Music is a term that can be described in various ways depending on the context and the perspective of the person defining it.

Generally speaking, music can be defined as an art form that involves sound, rhythm, and melody. It is a form of self-expression, communication, and entertainment that has been around for thousands of years, across cultures and civilizations. Music is an essential part of human life, as it has the power to evoke emotions, inspire creativity, and bring people together.

From classical compositions to modern pop songs, music has a universal appeal and is enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds. It has the ability to convey messages and tell stories in a way that words alone cannot achieve.

Moreover, music plays a significant role in various fields such as film, television, advertising, and video games. In conclusion, music is a complex and multifaceted art form that enriches our lives in a myriad of ways.

But what does music really mean to you?

Music is a tool of communication. To speak the truth or tell lies, manage relationships, unlearn habits, break barriers and change cultures.

Music moves us in ways no one can explain and can only be experienced.

There’s a song that fits every state of mind today.

We feel the earth beneath us, breath the air above us and everything in between through the microscope lenses of music.

Safe to say music supports every form of life.

With music, times change and a sound precedes it’s arrival. With music, hope can smile on us and let us know it’s alright. With music, heavenly atmosphere captures our emotions yet spirits flee when it’s content has the God command.

Even God sings.

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.’

Zephaniah 3:17

Make no mistake about it, there’s always a spirit behind every soundtrack.

The question is, who sings over you?

Have you ever stopped to consider who is singing over you? Is it a loved one, a close friend or maybe even a stranger?

The idea of someone singing over us can be comforting and reassuring, but it’s important to reflect on who this person might be.

Are they a positive influence in our lives? Do they offer support and encouragement? Or do they bring negativity and criticism? It’s crucial to surround ourselves with people who uplift and inspire us rather than those who bring us down.

These days, everyone seem to be working an angle… we really don’t know who to trust.

So, take a moment to think about who is singing over you.

My prayer is that your atmosphere be filled with music from on high.

May your day be blessed and fruitful. May your sound be that of laughter from heaven’s musical notes and your joy be full.

Yemi Alafifuni "Found" love and says He won't monetise it

While life can be uncertain and the trend disturbing, it is comforting to know that God has a plan. What is lost can certainly be found by the grace of God’s love, and singer-songwriter Yemi Alafifuni is here to deliver this message. Grammy considered, and steadily growing within the Christian/Gospel scene, Yemi’s rich vocal tones and textures, along with his miraculous ability for writing lyrics, has released a new single, “Found” across all streaming platforms.

FOUND – THE INSPIRATION

Found was written at two different times both demanding a response to a simple question; what are you looking for that God can’t fulfil?

The chorus of this song was written a few years ago as a response to self gratification thoughts. Yemi survived extremely difficult situations growing up and have wondered in awe how God brought him through. In my mind, I believe I have lived a good life becoming a christian at a young age but it wasn’t that I could keep myself but God found me and kept me from all harm – both spiritually and physically.

What is so special about me, Yemi asked. The answers are summarised in the lyrics and the core is that God found me… Yemi explained. He came running for me, even when I didn’t deserve it.

The entire song describes different moments of Yemi’s experiences coined through the lenses of these two scriptures;

1 John 4:10; This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Jeremiah 29:13; You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

The Passion:

Yemi claims this song is at the core of his passion for God’s love and though things might appear difficult, God won’t break our hearts. “Found” is a passionate song with interesting call to worship and an unadulterated surrender to God’s love.

Yemi prays that this song helps many rekindle passion for God’s love and a sense of identity to those who may feel lost or broken.

The Message

When asked what being found as expressed in this passionate song means, Yemi responses were;

Today, our world has been taken over by the ‘celebrity’ mentality and the need or crave for becoming ‘FAMOUS’. The need to monetize all our experiences, whether divine or mortal has become the game of thrones. We must refuse to monetize God and our worship, Yemi said.
We need to trust God in this current economic climate and be assured that He will meet all our needs according to His riches in glory. We must tell others to do the same. We cannot sell salvation; it’s already paid for. It is therefore not that we love God but that He first loved us.

“God’s love is the answer to all what we may be looking for. The person of Jesus is enough for me,” Yemi declares. Found is a song from Yemi’s body of works and upcoming album ‘The Prodigals’.
