The Blood song brings the message of hope and the wholeness of our being through what Christ Jesus did for us on the cross.
I was inspired to write this song after listening to a teaching on the enormous power that the blood has, especially for believers. There is extreme strength in knowing that all we have and would ever need has been paid for… in full!
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground Luke 22:44 KJV.
This introduces us to the suffering that Jesus was about to experience and tells us how he saw the process of cross with such load. Yet He chose to go through it just so that God might have through Him, sons and daughters today.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. I John 1:7 NIV.
You see, Jesus was slain before the foundations of the world and this was the evidence of the Father’s love that he would shed His blood in the most inhumane way – dying on a cross.
The cross – the place of hope
But that’s not how this fascinating true event ends, the ‘Blood’ is still potent today, even more so to Christians who activate the strength therein.
The life of any creature is in the blood and as such it was necessary that the blood not only redeems us back to the creator but the blood be present to keep us from losing life through sin. He that is of God, sins not I John 5:18.
It is the blood of Jesus that now flows in our veins, though we may fall sometimes, we get back up again. Understanding though that the blood isn’t an excuse to fall but a guard and yet a reconciliation power, should you need it.
JESUS brings life with every word by the blood
There are many scriptures that confirm the potency of the blood but these are some of my favourites;
- The Blood for Redemption – Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things… but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot I Peter 1:18-19 KJV
- Life in ‘The Blood’ – Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood; ye have no life in you. John 6:53 KJV
- Total victory via ‘The Blood’ – And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11
- Eternal access to heaven (here and now) via ‘The Blood’ – Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us – Hebrews 9:12
The Prayer
It is my prayer that the blood of Jesus speaks for all who hear this song as it is written, the blood speaks… ‘You have come to Jesus, who brings the new promise from God, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better message than Abel’s. Hebrews 12:24 (GW)’
