The song arrived on an exercise walk near his home, in the middle of a conversational prayer — the kind where you are talking rather than reciting, and asking questions you are not sure you want answered.

What came back was a correction. He sensed that a great many people worship God for His strength, for His power to fight their battles — and then he heard it plainly: Worship is not a weapon.
Worship for who God is, not for what He can do for you. He is Almighty after all.
HERE is the argument that follows. It refuses worship as leverage. God does perform miracles for those He loves, but praise is not the currency that buys them. The song asks to stay in the room rather than to be given anything in it — Would You show me who You are, not what man has made of You.

The second half turns to Romans 8 and lists everything that cannot separate a person from that love: no highs or lows, no rise or fall, no wisdom or kingdom, no power in hell. It is the same claim the whole catalogue makes, argued in four minutes.
