Privacy and cookies
What is measured, and what is never asked for.
This site measures its traffic, so that Yemi can see which songs people actually reach and make more of what is working. It never asks for your name, your address, your payment details or an account — and nothing is ever sold to anybody.

What is collected
Three things, and nothing else.
How the site is being used, through Google Analytics — only if you accepted it. That means which pages and songs are reached, what was clicked, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you used. Google assigns your browser a random identifier and records your IP address, which it shortens before storing. Under UK law both of those count as personal data, so this page does not pretend otherwise. What it is used for is narrow and it is worth being exact: deciding which songs deserve a video, which essays to write more of, and whether anybody is finding the free downloads at all.
Your email address, if you type it into the monthly letter form and then confirm it from your inbox. Nothing is sent until you click that confirmation. It is used to send one letter a month and to tell you about a release — never for anything else, and never passed to anyone.
Server records. Like every website, the machines serving these pages log the requests they answer, including IP addresses, for a short period. That is how a site stays up and how abuse is stopped; it is not analysis and nobody reads it for insight.
The music itself needs none of this. Every download works with no email address, no account and no payment, whatever you choose here, and there is no plan to change that.
Advertising
There is no advertising on this site today, and it is expected within the next few months. When it starts it will be through Google, and it will only ever run for people who turned advertising on in the consent choices — which is off by default. Turning it on lets an advert be measured and made relevant to you rather than random. Turning it off does not cost you anything on this site: no page, no song and no download is gated behind it.
Why we are allowed to do this
- Analytics and advertising — your consent. Nothing loads until you give it, and you can take it back at any time without giving a reason.
- The monthly letter — your consent, confirmed twice: once when you type the address and once from your inbox.
- Server records — legitimate interests, namely keeping the site online and secure.
Cookies and what is on your device
Until you choose, this site sets no cookies at all. The rows marked only after consent exist only if you said yes; the rest are small notes kept in your own browser that are never transmitted anywhere and that nobody, including Yemi, can read.

If you install the site to your home screen it also keeps copies of pages you have visited and songs you have downloaded, so they work without a connection. Those copies never leave your device, and uninstalling removes them.
Who else is involved
- Google — analytics, and advertising when it starts. Only after you agree.
- Vercel serves the pages and keeps short-lived server records.
- Mailchimp holds the letter list. If you never subscribe, it holds nothing about you.
- Mux delivers the videos hosted here, and sees the request when one actually plays.
- YouTube and Spotify appear on some pages, but nothing is requested from either until you press play. Until then they are a still image and a button, and neither company is told you were here. Once you press play, their own terms apply.
Google, Mailchimp and Mux are in the United States, so some of this data is handled there under the UK and EU transfer safeguards those companies publish. None of it is ever sold, and none of it is handed to a data broker.
How long it is kept
- Analytics — 14 months, then Google deletes it. The count restarts each time the same browser visits again, so for a regular reader it is 14 months after the last visit rather than 14 months after the first.
- Your email address — until you unsubscribe, which removes it.
- Server records — days, not months.
- Your choices on this page — on your device until you clear them.
Your rights, in the UK and EU
You can ask for a copy of anything held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask that it be restricted or handed to someone else, object to it being used, and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing is meant to be as easy as giving it, which is why the control is on this page and in the footer of every other one.

If you are in the United States
California residents, and residents of other states with similar laws, have the right to know what is collected, to have it deleted or corrected, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be treated worse for asking. Nothing here is sold. Advertising, once it starts, may count as “sharing” under California law — which is why it is off unless you switch it on.
Global Privacy Control is honoured. If your browser sends a GPC signal, advertising is switched off automatically and cannot be turned on from this page. You do not have to ask, and you do not have to trust that anybody read your email.
Children
This site is not directed at children and asks for nothing that would identify one.
Changes
If any of this stops being true, the page changes on the same day and the date below changes with it. It is not touched on ordinary deploys, so an old date means nothing has changed. If what is done with data changes materially, you will be asked again rather than quietly carried over.
