Voice The Sound

The title is not a description. It is an instruction — and halfway through, the song stops being about speech and becomes it.

A históriaA história desta canção está em inglês.Psalm 29:4Genesis 1:3Ezekiel 37:41 Kings 18:41

Yemi calls this a prophetic song of deliverance, and he means the second word technically. The claim it makes is not that God rescues people. It is that people have been handed the means of their own rescue and can use it out loud.

The reasoning behind the title is a short chain, and he sets it out plainly.

God’s voice is His promise, and His promise is His Word living inside of you. So: voice the sound. On where the title comes from

Which makes the title an instruction rather than a description — voice it, meaning say it, meaning now.

The first half of the song assembles its evidence from every moment in scripture where speech does something rather than describes something. Let there be light, and there was. Dry bones told to hear the word of the Lord, and obeying. The sound of abundance of rain, heard before a cloud appears. Mountains skipping. Underneath all of it is Psalm 29, where the phrase the voice of the Lord occurs seven times in eleven verses, and where the voice is never quoted — only its effects are.

We are not just saved. We have been given the power to set ourselves free by the word of the Lord.Yemi Alafifuni

Then, halfway through, the song stops arguing and starts doing. The section is marked Declarations, and the grammar changes with it: no longer he speaks, but we speak. It addresses the four points of the compass, then illness by name, then homes, then nations.

One line in it is not incidental in a catalogue like this one: the Lord is restoring your Fathers. It sits between the house and the nations, and it is the only thing in the list that names a relationship rather than a place or a condition.

Vocal production on this track is by Isaac Cates — the one song on Father he handled.

Letra

The voice of the LORD is powerful When He speaks, even dry bones obey The voice of the King so wonderful Let there be light and light came to be

Through eye of the storm, make a sound At His voice, even mountains skip for joy The voice of the Father is mighty Creation’s delight, His wonders perform!

The abundance of rain, rushing in Join with the angels, crying holy holy The words of the King is breaking free Let it thunder, Oh Oh!!! (Make it glorious)
